How long has it been since I last posted? Whoops! I’ve been incredibly busy (just this side of overwhelmed, you understand) through November and December looks like it’s going to slow down just in time for Beth’s daughter to arrive. I’ve gotten the final proof back for Fairy Queen and the changes that need to be made are indeed minor, and yet there hasn’t been time for even that much. So, utter fail on the whole October release date, but since this is the first time I’ve done the whole shebang of a novel-sized work, getting it ready for consumption, while getting a few dozen holiday gifts ready, helping Beth get her stuff going, and doing a pretty thorough edit read-through for a friend — oh, right, and come upon both the busiest season both religiously and day job wise. And buried a family member. In less than two months. I guess that’s busy enough and it makes it less of a failure?
And I’m still learning. My tolerance for on-going projects are, unfortunately, one at a time. So my dream of being able to have one in edits while working on a brandy new WiP is going to remain a dream — in practice it makes me unbearably miserable and unhappy. I likely could do it, if I dropped my fiber crafts and if I dropped reading for fun, and since these are fun things, I don’t really want to.
Fairy Queen will get out in the next couple of months. I’m just about done the edits for a friend, so that’ll clear up time. After that, I’m going to bang out a few short stories that have been waiting patiently, and then it’s back into the lengthy WiP (which may change to a different WiP entirely, who knows?)
At what point does my giving my writerly self the freedom to write as she pleases cross the line into the land of lack of discipline? What is it I want for my writing career in the next year? Things to explore . . .
